Gina dress is a free crochet pattern for beginners that used fine thread and US-1 / 2.75MM hook. It has a photo tutorial in each step to guide you in your crochet journey.
I used multiple of 8sts.
In this Gina Dress, I used stainless hook 2.75 MM to get the lacy look.
This Gina Dress is in Small, bust size is 34".
Flat measurement, length - shoulder to hem is 34"
Hook: Stainless Hook US 1 / 2.75MM
Thread: Monaco Thread #8 ; 4 and ½ balls ( 787.50 meters) ; shade – B21
Thread substitute: Any crochet thread #8 or #10
2” - 14 sts x 6 R of dc’s
All terms are in US terminology.
Ch: Chain ; Sc: Single Crochet ; Hdc: Half Double Crochet
Dc: Double Crochet ; Sl st: Slip Stitch ; Rep: Repeat
Picot: Chain 3, sl st in specified st. (photo tutorial HERE)
V-st: dc, ch1, dc in specified st.
Chain 192, sl st in 1st st, be careful not
to twist.
Round 1: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), dc in the same st, (ch1, sk next ch, dc in next st) 3 times, ch1, sk next ch, *2dc in next st, (ch1, sk next ch, dc in next st) 3 times, ch1, sk next ch repeat * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. (24 – 2dc in the same st and 96- 1ch sp)
Round 2: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), *2dc in next dc, (dc in next 1ch sp, dc in next dc) 4 times, repeat* around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.
Round 3: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and 1ch sp), sk next dc, *dc in next dc, ch1, sk next dc, repeat* around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.
Round 4: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), dc in next 1ch sp, (dc in next dc, dc in next 1ch sp) around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.
Round 5: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and 1ch sp), sk next dc, dc in next dc, ch1, sk next dc, *2dc in next dc, (ch1, sk next dc, dc in next dc) 4 times, ch1, sk next dc, repeat * around, 2dc in next dc, (ch1, sk next dc, dc in next dc) twice, ch1, sk next dc, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. (24 sets – 2dc in the same st and 120 – 1ch sp)
Round 6: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), (dc in next 1ch sp, dc in next dc) twice, *2dc in next dc, (dc in next 1ch sp, dc in next dc) 5 times, repeat* around, 2dc in next dc, (dc in next 1ch sp, dc in next dc) twice, dc in next 1ch sp, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.
Round 7: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and 1ch sp), sk next dc, *dc in next dc, ch1, sk next dc, repeat* around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. (144 – 1ch sp)
Round 8: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), dc in next 1ch sp, (dc in next dc, dc in next 1ch sp) around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.
Round 9: Repeat round 7
Round 10: Repeat round 8
Next row will be the start of dividing the panel into two parts.
1st Panel
Round 11 – 1st Panel: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), dc in the same st, (ch1, sk next dc, dc in next dc) 41 times, ch1, sk next dc, 2dc in next dc. (42 – 1ch sp)
Round 12 – 1st Panel: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in the same st, dc in next 1ch sp, (dc in next dc, dc in next 1ch sp) across, 2dc in last dc.
Round 13 – 1st Panel: Repeat round 11 but having 44 – 1ch sp.
Round 14 – 1st Panel: Repeat round 12
Round 15 – 1st Panel: Repeat round 11 but having 46 – 1ch sp.
Round 16 – 1st Panel: Repeat round 12
Round 17 – 1st Panel: Repeat round 11 but having 48 – 1ch sp.
Round 18 – 1st Panel: Repeat round 12, ch7 [ch19], add another 2” long tail then cut off. Do not pull the thread tightly; we will use this to attach to 2nd panel.
2nd Panel
Skip 59 dc’s, attach thread in next dc.
Repeat Round 11-round 18 of 1st panel but this time do not cut, sl st in 1st dc of the 1st panel, drops the thread.
On 1st panel last completed dc, remember that we leave at least 2” tail left,
unravel the knot, sl st in 1st dc of the 2nd panel. Turn
the project into right side. Continue to round 19.
Round 19: Ch4 (consider as 1st dc and 1ch sp), sk next st, *dc in next st, ch1, sk next st, repeat* around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. (108 – 1ch sp)
Round 20: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), dc in next 1ch sp, (dc in next dc, dc in next 1ch sp) around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.
Round 21: Repeat round 19.
Round 22: Sl st in next 1ch sp-dc-1ch sp-dc, ch1, sc in the same dc, *(ch4, sk next 2dc, sc in next 1ch sp) 13 times, ch4, sk next 1dc, sc in next 1ch sp, (ch4, sk next 2dc, sc in next 1ch sp) 12 times, ch4, sk next 2dc, sk next 1ch sp*, sc in next dc, rep *to* once more, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. (54 – 4ch sps)
Round 23: Sl st in next 1ch of 4ch sp, ch1, sc in the same sp, (ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) around, ch1, dc in top of 1st sc to join (consider ch1 and dc as ch4 sp).
Round 24: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch4, sc in next 4ch sp, ch1, v-st in next sc, ch1, sc in next 4ch sp, *(ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) twice, ch1, v-st in next sc, ch1, sc in next 4ch sp, rep * around, end w/ ch4, sl st in 1st sc to join. (18 – v-st)
Round 25: Sl st in next 1ch of 4ch sp, ch1, sc in the same sp, ch4, sc in next v-st, *(ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) twice, ch4, sc in next v-st, rep * around, ch1, dc in top of 1st sc to join (consider ch1 and dc as ch4 sp).
Round 26: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch4, *sc in next 4ch sp, ch4, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 27-30: Repeat round 23 round 26
Round 31-34: Repeat round 23 round 26
Round 35-38: Repeat round 23 round 26
Round 39: Ch1, sc in the same st, (ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) 3 times, ch4, *sc in next sc, (ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) 3 times, ch4, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. (72 – 4ch sps)
Round 40: Sl st in next 1ch of 4ch sp, ch1, sc in the same sp, ch4, sc in next 4ch sp, ch1, v-st in next sc, ch1, sc in next 4ch sp, *(ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) 3 times, ch1, v-st in next sc, ch1, sc in next 4ch sp, rep * around, ch4, sc in next 4ch sp, ch1, dc in top of 1st sc to join (consider ch1 and dc as ch4 sp). (18 – v-st)
Round 41: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch4, sc in next 4ch sp, ch4, sc in next v-st, *(ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) 3 times, ch4, sc in next v-st, rep * around, ch4, sc in next 4ch sp, ch4, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 42: Sl st in next 1ch of 4ch sp, ch1, sc in the same sp, (ch4, sc in next 4ch sp) around, ch1, dc in top of 1st sc to join (consider ch1 and dc as ch4 sp).
Round 43: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch4, (sc in next 4ch sp, ch4) around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 44-47: Repeat round 40 round 43
Round 48: Sl st in next 1ch of 4ch sp, ch1, sc in the same sp, ch5, sc in next 4ch sp, ch1, v-st in next sc, ch1, sc in next 4ch sp, *(ch5, sc in next 4ch sp) 3 times, ch1, v-st in next sc, ch1, sc in next 4ch sp, rep * around, ch5, sc in next 4ch sp, ch2, dc in top of 1st sc to join (consider ch2 and dc as ch5 sp). (18 – v-st)
Round 49: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch5, sc in next 5ch sp, ch5, sc in next v-st, *(ch5, sc in next 5ch sp) 3 times, ch5, sc in next v-st, rep * around, ch5, sc in next 5ch sp, ch5, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 50: Sl st in next 2ch of 5ch sp, ch1, sc in the same sp, (ch5, sc in next 5ch sp) around, ch2, dc in top of 1st sc to join (consider ch2 and dc as ch5 sp).
Round 51: Ch1, sc in the same dc post, ch5, (sc in next 5ch sp, ch5) around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.
Round 52 and Onward: Repeat round 48-51 until it reaches your above knee, or depends on your desired length, but having a room for 5 inches for the edging. Note that the 5ch spaces are not in the regular size when crocheting, you can get the exact size of 5ch sp after the blocking process. What I do, I just stretch the fabric at the lower part so I know where to stop. I stretch the fabric to make sure it reaches my before knee level, since I wanted my dress to be just below my knee.
