Free crochet technique: Magic crochet with photo tutorial n each step

Want to have an invisible knot to start with your crochet project?


By following the tutorial below, you can substitute your several chains then sl st to form a ring with the magic crochet / adjustable ring.

Magic crochet or commonly called magic ring crochet is another technique in crocheting where you can start your circle crochet without having a knot.


Step 1

Wrap the yarn around your finger twice.

Step 2

Insert the hook under the loop

Step 3

Pull up a loop

Step 4

Make a chain to secure the loop / ring

Step 5 - Closing the Ring

The following steps are for closing the ring by crocheting 

1. 10 single crochet

2. 10 double crochet


10 Single Crochet in magic crochet

Make 10 sc in the ring, there's 2 loops in the ring now.


Pull the 2nd loop as shown on photo below, then pull the string gently to close the ring.


Slip stitch in 1st sc to close the ring.

10 Double Crochet in magic crochet

Make ch3(consider as 1st dc), 9dc in the ring, there's 2 loops in the ring now.


Pull the 2nd loop as shown on photo below.


Then pull the string gently to close the ring.


Sl st in the 1st dc to close the 10 dc in the ring.
