This is a free crochet pattern for Elizabeth Crochet Cowl.
This free crochet pattern is an intermediate skill level but is an easy enough pattern for beginners if the photo tutorial is followed closely. This is a two rows repeat pattern using the puff stitch.
Size: 7 1/2" wide x 30" long
Multiple of 4 sts.

Intermediate
All terms are in USA terminology
Ch: Chain, Sc: Single Crochet, Dc: Double Crochet, Sp: Space, Sk: Skip, Sh: shell st
Hook: 6.50MM [US K-10 1/2]
Yarn Weight: #4 ; Worsted yarn
Yarn used: Lion Brand; Vanna's Choice, Pink; 190 yrds
Shell st (sh): [(dc, ch 1) twice, dc] in specified st.
Puff Stitch: Yarn over (yo), insert hook in sc post, yo, draw up a long loop, [yo, insert hook in the same sc post, yo, draw up a long loop] once more, (7 loops on hook), yo, draw up a loop through 6 loops on your hook, yo, draw up a loop through remaining 2 loops on hook to close. Puff Stitch made.
2" square = 7 sts, 3 rows of DC's

Row 1: Ch 33, dc in 5th ch from hook (consider ch 3 as 1st dc and ch 1 as sp), sk 3 ch, [sh in next ch, sk 3 ch] 6 times, dc – ch 1 – dc in last ch.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st, ch 3, puff in sc post, [sc in 2nd dc of next sh, ch 3, puff in sc post] 6 times, sk next dc and 1 ch sp, sc in last dc.
Row 3: Ch 4 (consider ch 3 as 1st dc and ch 1 as sp), turn, dc in the same st, sk next 3 ch sp, [sh in next sc, sk next 3 ch sp] 6 times, dc – ch 1 – dc in last ch.
Row 4-53: Repeat row 2 and 3.
Row 54(Joining of cowl): Lay scarf on flat surface.
Flip one short end of scarf so that there is a twist in scarf to transform the scarf into a cowl.
Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st, drop the hook, insert hook in corner st of the other end, grab the dropped yarn, ch 3, puff in sc post, [sc in 2nd dc of next sh, ch 3, puff in sc post] 6 times, sk next dc and 1 ch sp, sc in last dc.
puff in sc post, sc in 2nd dc of next sh,
[ch 3, puff in sc post, sc in 2nd dc of next sh, drop the hook, sk next 3 ch sp of the other end, insert hook in next st, grab the dropped yarn] across,
Ch 1, sc in the same st, ch 3, sk next dc post, [sc in next sc post, ch 3, sk next dc post] around, sl st in 1st sc to join.
Fasten Off.
