Girlie's Crochet

This is a crocheted star ornament for your Christmas tree. I used mercerized double strand held together and used smaller hook so the finished star will be stiffer and no need to block it.

But if you prefer to use cornstarch spray, much better.

You can crochet this in no time. This is a great stash buster too.

Materials Needed:

Thread: Cannon Mercerized Thread, White, 2 strand held together.

Hook: Boye Stainless Hook ; 1 / 2.75 MM


Terms Used:

All terms are in USA terminology

Ch: Chain,  Sc: Single Crochet,  Dc: Double Crochet, Hdc: Half Double Crochet, Sl st: Slip Stitch, Sp: Space,  Sk: Skip


Stitch Guide:

Picot: Ch3, sl st in specified st, for photo tutorial please click here


Gauge:

Finished Star: 3" x 3.5" (including the string)


Christmas Tree Star Ornament

Round 1: Magic ring, ch 3 (consider as 1st dc), [dc, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) 4 times, dc] in magic ring, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st, ch 1, [(sc, hdc, dc, ch 2, dc, hdc, sc) in next 2 ch sp, ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc, ch 1] around, sk next dc, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 3: Ch 3, sk next (ch sp, sc, hdc, dc), (sc, hdc, dc, picot, dc, hdc, sc) in next 2 ch sp,ch 3, sk next (dc, hdc, sc and ch sp), *sl st in next sc, ch 3, sk next (ch sp, sc, hdc, dc), (sc, hdc, dc, picot, dc, hdc, sc) in next 2 ch sp, ch 3, sk next (dc, hdc, sc and ch sp)*, sl st in next sc, ch 3, sk next (ch sp, sc, hdc, dc), (sc, hdc, dc, ch 15, sl st in top of dc, sc, hdc, dc) in next 2 ch sp, ch 3, sk next (dc, hdc, sc and ch sp), rep *to* twice, end w/ sl st in 1st st to join.
