This is a free crochet pattern for Audrey Summer Top. Just in time for the upcoming season, the Audrey Summer Top is sure to be a hit with it's versatility. You can use this top for the picnic at the park, casual trip to the mall or as a cover up at your favorite resort or pool party.

Girlie's Crochet

This summer top was designed to be loose. I crocheted several tops where I cut the pattern before the waistline to serve as crop top as shown in the photos above.

Pattern stitch is multiple of 8 sts. This Audrey Summer Top is crocheted in round, in two rounds repeat, from top to bottom hem.

In this pattern below I used the combination of 2 colors. When I indicate the color in specific round, then there will be no more color indication in next round, it means you have to use the same color you used from the previous round.

Size S/M (M/L, L/XL, XL/XXL)

Posted pattern is in size M/L

Laying flat measurements are:  W-19" x L-26"

Materials Needed:

Hook: 4.00MM [US G-6]

Yarn: 2 strands of thread size 8 hold together,

or you may substitute it to 2 thread size 10 (Aunt’s Lydia) hold together

or any DK Weight cotton yarn (approximately 525 yds)

Yarn Used: Cannon Mercerized Cotton thread / 175 meters each ball: Color A: MB009, 6 balls ; Color B: SC040, 4 balls 


Terms Used:

All terms are in USA terminology

Ch: Chain,  Sc: Single Crochet, Dc: Double Crochet,  Sp: Space,  Sk: Skip


Stitch Guide:

Beg Shell Increase (beg sh inc): Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same st, finish off the rest of the instructions then in the same st where you start, put (3 dc, ch 2) in 1st st, sl st in 1st dc to join. Beg Sh Inc has made.

Shell Increase (sh inc): 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, in the specified st. Shell Increase has made.

Beginning Shell (Beg Sh): Ch 3 (consider as 1st dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in specified st.

Shell (Sh): 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in specified st

Beg V-st: Ch 6, dc in specified st / sp

V-st: Dc, ch 3, dc in specified st / sp

Picot: Ch 3, sl st in top of last completed dc.

Audrey Summer Top Instructions:

Round 1 (Color A): Ch 144 (160, 192, 208), sl st in 1st ch to form a ring, Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same st, [ch 1, sk next 7 ch, sh in next ch] 2 (2, 3, 3) times, *ch 1, sk next 7 ch, sh inc in next ch, rep [ to ] 5 (6, 7, 8) times*, ch 1, sk next 7 ch, sh in next ch, rep [ to ] 2 (2, 3, 3) times, rep *to* once more, end w/ completing the beg sh inc.


Round 2:  Sl st in next dc, ch 6 (consider ch 3 as 1st dc and ch 3 as ch sp here and throughout), dc in the same st, ch 2, sk next dc, v-st in next 2 ch sp, ch 4, sk next 3 dc, [sc in next ch sp, ch 4, v-st in next sh, ch 4, sc in next ch sp] across, *ch 4, sk next 3 dc, v-st in next 2 ch sp, ch 2, sk next dc, v-st in next dc, ch 2, sk next dc, v-st in next 2 ch sp, ch 4, sk next 3 dc, rep [ ] across, rep * around, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, sk next 3 dc, v-st in next 2 ch sp, ch 2, sk next dc, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 3:  Sl st in next 3 ch sp, beg sh in the same ch sp, ch 1, * sh in next v-st, ch 1, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 4: Sl st in next 2 ch sp, beg v-st in the same sp, ch 4, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, *v-st over sh, ch 4, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 5 (Color B): Sl st in next 3 ch sp, beg sh inc in the same sp, ch 1, [sh in next v-st, ch 1] around but having sh inc in each of 3 v-st corner, complete the beg sh inc, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 6: Rep round 2


Round 7-10 (Color A): Rep round 3 – round 6. 

Round 11: Rep round 3


Round 12: Rep round 4


Round 13-14 (Color B): Rep round 5 – round 6. 


Round 15 (Color A) Forming of armhole: Sl st in next 3 ch sp, Ch 3 (consider as 1st dc), 2 dc in the same sp, ch 1, sk next 10 (10, 11,11) v-st, 3 dc, ch 1, *sh in next v-st, ch 1* rep *to* 12 (13, 14, 15) times more, 3 dc in next v-st, sk next 10 (10, 11,11) v-st, 3 dc, ch 1, rep *to* across, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 16: Sl st in next ch sp, beg v-st in the same sp, ch 4, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, [*v-st over sh, ch 4, sc in next ch sp, ch 4*, rep *to* 12 (13, 14, 15) times more, sk next 3 dc, v-st in next ch sp, ch 4, sk next 3 dc, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, rep *to* across, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.

Round 17:  Sl st in next 3 ch sp, beg sh in the same ch sp, ch 1, * sh in next v-st, ch 1, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.

Round 18: Sl st in next 2 ch sp, beg v-st in the same sp, ch 4, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, *v-st over sh, ch 4, sc in next ch sp, ch 4, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.

Round 19-20: Repeat round 17-18

Round 21-22 (Color B): Repeat round 17-18

Round 23-28 (Color A): Repeat round 17-18

Round 29-30 (Color B): Repeat round 17-18

Round 31-36 (Color A): Repeat round 17-18

Round 37-38 (Color B): Repeat round 17-18


Round 39:  Sl st in next 3 ch sp, ch 3, 2dc, picot, ch 1, 3 dc in the same sp, ch 1, *(3 dc, picot, ch 1, 3 dc) in next v-st, ch 1, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. Fasten Off.

Edging:

Sleeve Edging: 

Attach yarn in right side ch sp of v-st of round 15 armhole. Ch 3, 2 dc in the same sp, picot, 3 dc in next v-st, [(3 dc, picot, 3 dc) in next v-st] around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. Fasten Off.

Rep sleeve edging to other sleeve.


Neckline Edging: 

Attach yarn in any sh st. Ch 3, (2 dc, picot, 3 dc) in the same st, sk next 7 sts, [(3 dc, picot, 3 dc) in next sh st, sk next 7 sts] around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join. Fasten Off.
