This floral headband was specifically designed for baby girls mostly to indicate the gender of the baby.

Size of the headband diameter is - 6.5”

Size of the flower (large petal) diameter is - 3.75”

Headband is multiple of 12 sts

Pattern of headband is for 0-3 mos (3-6 mos, 6-12mos)

Size of headband is for

0-3 mos – diameter 6.5”

3-6 mos – diameter 7.5”

6-12mos – diameter 8.25”

Materials Needed

Hook: 2.75MM [US 1] & 5.50MM [US I- 9]

Yarn Weight: #3 - Fine yarn & #4, Worsted yarn

Yarn Used: Hand dyed fine yarn - approx 10 yds or substitute with crochet thread size 5 and 

Caron Simply Soft, approx 2 yds, Watermelon

Caron Simply Soft, approx 4 yds, Strawberry

Tapestry needle for attaching the flower on your beanie and weaving ends.


Terms Used

All terms are in USA terminology

Ch: Chain,  Sc: Single Crochet,  Hdc: Half Double Crochet,  

Dc: Double Crochet


Gauge

2 inches square - 12 sts x 5R of Dc


Phoebe Crochet Headband Instructions

Using hook - 2.75MM [US 1] and Hand dyed fine yarn - approx 10 yds or substitute with crochet thread size 5 

Chain 96 (100,116), sl st in 1st ch to for a ring, be careful not to twist.

Round 1: Ch 1, sc in the same st, sk next 3 ch, 7 dc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, *sc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, 7 dc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, rep * across, sl st in 1st sc to join. [ 12 (13,14) sets of 7 dc]


Round 2: Sl st back to foundation ch in the same st, ch 3, turn, 3 dc in the same st, sk next 3 ch, sc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, *7 dc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, sc in next ch, sk next 3 ch, rep * across, 3 dc in next st to complete 1st 7 dc, sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in the same st, sk next 3 dc, 7 dc in next sc, sk next 3 dc, *sc in next dc, sk next dc, 7 dc in next sc, sk next 3 dc, rep * across, sl st in 1st sc to join. Fasten Off.

Phoebe Crochet Headband Flower Instructions

Using hook 5.50MM [US I- 9] and Caron Simply Soft, Watermelon

Round 1: Make a magic crochet, Ch 1, 12 sc in magic crochet, sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st, ch 3, sk next st, *sc in next st, ch 3, sk next st, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [ 6 loops]


Change color: Using Caron Simply Soft, Watermelon

Round 3: Ch 1, *(sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in next 3 ch sp, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. (6 small petals)


Change color: Using Caron Simply Soft, Strawberry

Round 4: Ch 1, fold the small petal as shown below, sc in next skipped sc on round 1, ch 5, sk next st, *sc in next skipped sc on round 1, ch 5, sk next st, rep * around,  end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. 


Round 5: Ch 1, *(sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in next 3 ch sp, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. 


Round 6: Ch 3, fold the small and medium petal as shown below, sc in next sc on round 2, ch 5, sk next st, *sc in next skipped sc on round 1, ch 5, sk next st, rep * around,  end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. 


Change color: Using Caron Simply Soft, Watermelon

Round 7: Ch 1, *(sc, hdc, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in next 3 ch sp, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. 


Using your fine yarn or thread and tapestry needle, attach the flower to your beanie.
