Ch Dc and Trc Combination

As I was looking at the photo she submitted, the light bulb in my head flickered on and I said to myself this could be a beautiful scarf!

I can and will translate this photo into written instructions.


Terms Used

All terms used are in USA terminology.

Ch: Chain  ;  Sc: Single Crochet  ;  Hdc: Half Double Crochet  ;

Dc: Double Crochet  ;  Trc: Treble Crochet  ;  Sl: Slip Stitch  ;

Rep: Repeat


Stitch Guide

Trc2tog: Yarn over the hook twice, insert hook in next dc and draw up a loop, (yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops) twice, sk hdc and 3sc, yarn over the hook twice, insert hook in last st and draw up a loop, (yarn over the hook and draw through first 2 loops) twice, yarn over the hook and draw through all 3 loops on hook:  trc2tog made.


Ch Dc and Trc Instruction

"1st Motif"

Row 1: Ch4, sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.

Row 2: Ch5 (consider as trc and ch1 sp), trc-ch1-trc in the ring.


Row 3: Ch5, turn, 2sc in 1ch sp, ch4, 2sc in next 1ch sp, ch2, dc in trc.


Row 4: Ch4, turn, trc in ch2 sp, ch9, sk next 4ch sp, 2trc in next 4ch sp.


Row 5: Ch1, turn, work 3sc-hdc-dc-8trc-dc-hdc-3sc in 9ch sp, sc in next st.


Row 6: Ch4, turn, sk next 3sc and hdc, trc in next dc, ch1, (trc in next trc, ch1) 8times, trc2tog in next st.


Row 7: Ch1, sk next 1ch sp, sc in next trc, ch4, (2sc in next 1ch sp, ch4) 7 times, sc in next trc, sc in next 1ch sp, sl st in next trc2tog.


"2nd Motif"

Row 1: Ch3, turn, dc in the same st.

Row 2: Turn, ch5 (consider as trc and ch1 sp), trc-ch1-trc in ch3 sp, ch1, sl st in sc post of prev motif.


Row 3: Ch3, turn, sk next trc, 2sc in next 1ch sp, ch4, 2sc in next 1ch sp, ch2, dc in trc.


Row 4: Ch4, turn, trc in ch2 sp, ch9, sk next 4ch sp, 2trc in next 3ch sp, sl st in dc post.


Row 5: Turn, sc in 1st trc, work 3sc-hdc-dc-8trc-dc-hdc-3sc in 9ch sp, sc in next st.


Row 6: Ch4, turn, sk next 3sc and hdc, trc in next dc, ch1, (trc in next trc, ch1) 8times, trc2tog in next st, sl st in the ring of prev motif.


Row 7: Turn, sl st in trc2tog, sc in next 1ch sp and in trc, ch4, (2sc in next 1ch sp, ch4) 7 times, sc in next trc, sc in next 1ch sp, sl st in next trc2tog.


"3rd Motif"


Row 1-6: Rep row 1-6 of 2nd Motif


Row 7: Turn, sl st in trc2tog, sc in next 1ch sp and in trc, ch2, 


sl st in 1st 4ch sp of prev motif, ch1, 


(2sc in next 1ch sp, ch4) 7 times, sc in next trc, sc in next 1ch sp, sl st in next trc2tog.


4th Motif and Onwards: Repeat 3rd Motif Instructions.
