Girlie's Crochet

This is the a nice sun hat for your little one that they will keep warm and protect them from the sun and keep their heads warm.

This Phoebe Sun Hat is fit for 3-6 months old baby and for 6-12 months old instructions are in ( ) parenthesis, but at the end of round 14, you have to repeat round 9-10 again.

Terms Used:

All terms are in USA terminology

Ch: Chain,  Sc: Single Crochet,  Dc: Double Crochet, 

Hdc: Half Double Crochet, Sl sl: Slip Stitch


Material Needed:

Hook: 4.00MM [US G-6]

Yarn: Red Heart TLC , Powder Yellow, approximately 100 yards


Stitch Guide:

Crossed DC: Skip next 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, backward, dc in last 2nd skipped st to the right. Crossed dc made

Cluster (cl): (Yarn over, insert hook in specified st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through first 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops. Cl made.

 

Gauge

2" = 8 sts x 4 Rows of DC


Phoebe Sun Hat Instructions:

Round 1: Magic crochet, ch 1, 10 (11) hdc in magic crochet, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join.

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in the same st, 2 hdc in each of next st around, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [20, (22) sc]

Round 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in the same st, hdc in next st, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st) around, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [30 (33) sc]

Round 4: Ch 1, hdc in the same st and in next st, 2 hdc in next st, [(hdc in next st) twice, 2 hdc in next st] around, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [40 (44) sc]

Round 5: Ch 1, hdc in the same st, 2 hdc in next st, [(hdc in next st) 3 times, 2 hdc in next st] around, [(hdc in next st) twice, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [50 (55) sc]

Round 6: Ch 1, 2 hdc in the same st, (hdc in next st) 4 times, [2 hdc in next st, (hdc in next st) 4 times] around, (hdc in next st) twice, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [60 (66) sc]

Round 7: Ch 1, hdc in the same st, (hdc in next st) twice, 2 hdc in next st, [(hdc in next st) 5 times, 2 hdc in next st] around, (hdc in next st) twice, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [70 (77) sc]

Round 8: Ch 1, 2 hdc in the same st, (hdc in next st) 6 times, [2 hdc in next st, (hdc in next st) 6 times] around, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. [80 (88) sc]


Round 9: Ch 3 (consider as 1st dc here and throughout), crossed dc, (dc in next st, crossed dc) around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 10: Ch 4 (consider as 1st dc and ch 1 sp here and throughout), cl in next ch-1 sp of next cl, ch 1, (dc in next dc, ch 1, cl in next ch-1 sp, ch 1) around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 11-14: Rep round 9-10

For 6-12 months: Rep round 9-10 once more

Round 15: Rep round 9


Round 16: Ch 1, sc in the same st, ch in each of next sts around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [80 (88) sc]

Round 17: Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in each of next 8 (9) sts, 2 sc in next st, (sc in each of next 9 (10) sts, 2 sc in next st) around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [90 (96) sc]

Round 18: Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in each of next 4 (5) sts, 2 sc in next st, (sc in each of next 10 (11) sts, 2 sc in next st) around, sc in each of next rem sts, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [100 (104) sc]

Round 19: Ch 1, sc in the same st, 2 sc in next st, (sc in each of next 11 (12) sts, 2 sc in next st) around, sc in each of next rem sts, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [110 (112)sc]

Round 20: Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in each of next 4 (5) sts, 2 sc in next st, (sc in each of next 12 (13) sts, 2 sc in next st) around, sc in each of next rem sts, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [130 sc]

Round 21-22: Ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in each of sts around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.

Round 23: Sl st in each of next sts around.
