Flower Granny Square

This is a free crochet tutorial for flower granny square, it has photo tutorial in each step to guide you in your crochet journey.


Terms Used

Ch : Chain

Dc: Double Crochet

Sl St: Slip Stitch

Sk: Skip

Sp: Space


Flower Granny Square Instruction


Round 1: Ch4 (consider 3ch as 1st dc), 2dc, ch2, (3dc, ch2) 3 times, in 4th ch from hook, end w/ sl st in 1st dc join.


Round 2: Sl st in next 2ch sp, ch2 (consider as 1st dc), 2dc, ch2, 3dc in the same sp, ch2, *(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next 2ch sp, ch2, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc join.


Round 2: Sl st in next 2ch sp, ch2 (consider as 1st dc), 2dc, ch2, 3dc in the same sp, ch2, 3dc in next 2ch sp, ch2*(3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next 2ch sp, ch2, 3dc in next 2ch sp, ch2, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc join.


Round 4-5: Repeat round 3 but having 3dc added in each round, you may change the color as shown on photo below. Fasten Off.

1st Flower over Granny Instructions


We will work on top of the granny. Attach yarn in any 2nd dc of 1st round as show on photo below.


1st Flower Round 1: Ch4, sk next dc, sc in next 2ch sp, ch4, sk next dc, ( sc in next dc, ch4, sk next dc, sc in next 2ch sp, ch4, sk next dc) around.


1st Flower Round 2: *(Sc, 5dc, sc) in next 4ch sp, rep * around. Fasten Off

2nd Flower over Granny Instructions


Attach yarn in any 2nd dc of Round 2 as shown on photo below. 

2nd Flower Round 1: Rep 1st flower round 1 but this time having ch5 instead of ch4.


2nd Flower Round 2: Rep 1st flower round 2 but this time having 6dc instead of 5dc. Fasten Off.

Edging of the Flower Granny Square


Attach thread in any corner, [ch2 (consider as 1st hdc), hdc, ch2, 2hdc] in the same sp, hdc in each st's but having ( 2hdc, ch2, 2hdc) in each corner, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. Fasten Off.
