Bea Poncho

This Bea Poncho is an easy and free crochet pattern with photo tutorial in each step. This poncho can be a great skirt for you to cool off during summer too. 

In line with the Bea Crop TopBea Tank Top and Bea Sweater, this Bea Poncho is a free crochet pattern that will be an easy project for everyone that has completed the Bea series of patterns.


This utilizes the same stitch as the previous patterns and is diverse enough to be created into other wearables as well.

This Bea Poncho is worked in round from top to bottom.

This pattern is for size small. The stitches I used here is multiple of 12 sts. You may add 12 more sts in each up size.

Laying flat the neck opening width - 15" and height 14"


Materials Needed:

Hook: 5.50MM [US I- 9]

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, Burgundy, 520 yards

Yarn Weight: #4 medium weight

Tapestry needle for weaving in ends


Terms Used:

All terms are in USA terminology

Ch: ChainSc: Single CrochetDc: Double Crochet,

Hdc: Half Double CrochetSl st: Slip Stitch, Sp: Space,  Sk: Skip

 

Gauge

4" square = 12 sts X 6 rows of DC's


Stitch Guide:

Picot: ch 3, sl st in top of specified dc.


Instructions:

Round 1: Chain 120, sl st in 1st ch from hook, be careful not to twist.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st, *ch 3, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch, rep * around, end w/ dc in 1st sc to join.


Round 3: Ch 1, sc in dc post, (ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next  3 ch sp) 3 times, 5 dc in next sc, * sc in next 3 ch sp, ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next  3 ch sp) 3 times, 5 dc in next sc, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. [ 8, 14 - 5 dc sets]


Round 4: Sl st in next 1st ch of next 3 ch sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, (ch 4, sk next sc, sc in next 3 ch sp) twice, dc in each of next dc, * sc in next 3 ch sp, (ch 4, sk next sc, sc in next 3 ch sp) twice, dc in each of next dc), rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 5: Sl st in next 1st ch of next 4 ch sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next 4 ch sp, dc in each of next dc w/ ch 1 in bet, * sc in next 4 ch sp, ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next 4 ch sp, dc in each of next dc w/ ch 1 in bet, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 6: Sl st in next sp, ch 5 (consider as 1st dc), 6 dc in the same sp, sk next sc and next dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, (ch 5,  sk next dc, sc in next 1 ch sp) 3 times, sk next dc and next sc, * 7dc in next 5 ch sp, sk next sc and next dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, (ch 5,  sk next dc, sc in next 1 ch sp) 3 times, sk next dc and next sc, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 7: Ch 3, dc in each of next dc, sc in next 5 ch sp, (ch 5, sc in next 5 ch sp)  twice, * dc in each of next dc, sc in next 5 ch sp, (ch 5, sc in next 4 ch sp)  twice, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 8: Ch 4, dc in each of next dc w/ ch 1 in bet, sc in next 5ch sp, ch 5, sc in next 5 ch sp, * dc in each of next dc w/ ch 1 in bet, sc in next 5 ch sp, ch 5, sc in next 5 ch sp, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 9: Ch 1, sc in next 1 ch sp, ch 5, sk next dc - 1 ch sp - dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, ch 5, sk next dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, ch 5, sk next dc - 1 ch sp - dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, sk next dc and sc, 7 dc in next 5 ch sp, sk next sc and dc, * sc in next 1 ch sp, ch 5, sk next dc - 1 ch sp - dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, ch 5, sk next dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, ch 5, sk next dc - 1 ch sp - dc, sc in next 1 ch sp, sk next dc and sc, 7 dc in next 5 ch sp, sk next sc and dc, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 10: Sl st in next 2 ch of next 5 ch sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, (ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next 5 ch sp) twice, dc in each of next dc, * sc in next 3 ch sp, (ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next 5 ch sp) twice, dc in each of next dc), rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 11: Sl st in next 2 ch of next 5 ch sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next 5 ch sp, dc in each of next dc w/ ch 1 in bet, * sc in next 5 ch sp, ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next 5 ch sp, dc in each of next dc w/ ch 1 in bet, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join.


Round 12 - 22: Repeat round 6 - 11, but end with round 10.

Note: You may repeat round 6-11 according to your desired length.


Round 23 - Serves as Edging: Sl st in next 2 ch of next 5 ch sp, ch 1, sc in the same sp, [(dc-picot-ch1) twice, dc] in next sc, sc in next 5 ch sp, (dc in next dc-picot-ch1) 6 times, dc in next dc, * sc in next 5 ch sp, [(dc-picot-ch1) twice, dc] in next sc, sc in next 5 ch sp, (dc in next dc-picot-ch1) 6 times, dc in next dc, rep * around, end w/ sl st in 1st sc to join. Fasten Off.

Upper Edging:

Round 1: Attach yarn in any 2 ch sp, ch3 (consider as 1st dc), dc in the same sp, 2 dc in each of next 2 ch sp around, end w/ sl st in 1st dc to join.


Round 2 - 3: Ch 1, hdc in the same st, hdc in each of next st around, end w/ sl st in 1st hdc to join. 


Fasten Off.
