Grace Headband

This grace headband is a free crochet pattern for girls winter headband using cable stitch with photo tutorial in each step.

This headband for girls circumference 20” can fit 3-5 years old.

For women winter headband size, please follow the note instructions in row 2 and row 33.

Needed

Yarn: Red Heart worsted yarn - 101 yards

Yarn I used here >  Light Grey / Blue

Hook: US I9   /  5.50MM


Gauge

4" - 18 stitches  : 13 rows

Laying flat: 9 1/2  x  3 1/2

All terms are in USA terminology

Sl St: Slip Stitch

Sc: Single Crochet

Dc: Double Crochet

Fpdc: Front Post Double Crochet

Bpdc: Back Post Double Crochet 

Sk: Skip

Grace Headband Instructions

Foundation Chain 18

 Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook  (consider  3ch as 1st dc), dc in each of next sts across. [15 dc]


Row 2: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in each of next sts across.

Note: For adult size, repeat row 2 once more.


Row 3: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in each of next 4 sts, sk 3 sts, (fpdc in next st) twice, ch1, fpdc in 1st sk st, fpdc in 2nd sk st, dc in each of rem 5 sts.


Row 4: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in each of next 3 sts, sk next dc, bpdc in each of next 2 fpdc, dc in skipped dc, ch1, sk next 2 fpdc, dc in next dc, bpdc in each of 2 skipped fpdc, dc in each of next 4 sts.


Row 5: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in each of next 2 sts, sk next dc, fpdc in each of next 2 bpdc, dc in skipped dc, ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1, sk next dc and 2 bpdc, dc in next dc, fpdc in each of 2 skipped bpdc, dc in each of next 3 sts.


Row 6: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in next st, sk next dc, bpdc in each of next 2 fpdc, dc in skipped dc, ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1, sk next dc and 2 bpdc, dc in next dc, bpdc in each of 2 skipped fpdc, dc in each of next 2 sts.


Row 7: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, sk next dc, fpdc in each of next 2 bpdc, dc in skipped dc, ch1, (sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1) 3 times, sk next dc and 2 bpdc, dc in next dc, fpdc in each of 2 skipped bpdc,  dc in last st.


Row 8: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, bpdc in each of next 2 fpdc, (ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp) twice, popcorn in next dc, (dc in next 1ch sp, ch1, sk next dc) twice, bpdc in each of next 2 fpdc, dc in last st.


Row 9: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, sk next 2 bpdc, dc in next 1ch sp, fpdc in each of 2 skipped bpdc, ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1, sk next dc, dc next popcorn , ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1, sk next dc and 1ch sp, fpdc in each of 2 bpdc,  dc in skipped 1ch sp, dc in last st.


Row 10: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in next st, sk 2bpdc, dc in next 1ch sp, bpdc in each of 2   skipped fpdc, ch1, (sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp,ch1) twice, sk next dc and 1ch sp, bpdc in each of next 2 fpdc, dc in skipped 1ch sp, dc in each of next 2 sts.


Row 11: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in next 2sts, sk next 2 bpdc, dc in next 1ch sp, fpdc in each of 2 skipped bpdc, ch1, sk next dc, dc in next 1ch sp, ch1,sk next dc and 1ch sp, fpdc in each of next 2 bpdc,   dc in skipped 1ch sp, dc in next 3 sts.


Row 12: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in next 3sts, sk 2bpdc, dc in next 1ch sp, bpdc in each of 2 skipped fpdc, dc in next dc, sk next 1ch sp, bpdc in each of next 2 fpdc, dc in skipped 1ch sp, dc in each of next 4 sts.


Row 13: Ch3 (consider as 1st dc), turn, dc in next 4sts, sk next 2 bpdc and next dc, fpdc in each of next 2 bpdc, ch1, fpdc in each of 2 skipped bpdc, dc in next 5 sts.


Row 14-32: Repeat row 4-13

Row 33-34: Ch3, turn, dc in each sts across. [15 dc’s]

Note: For adult size, please repeat row 33 once more.


 Fold the headband into half, wrong side facing  you.


Sl st in both ends to join.


Do not cut, continue to edging.

Grace Headband Edging


Do this instruction for both sides.

Round 1-3: Ch1, sc in the same st, ch1, sk dc post, (sc in joined st, ch1, sk dc post) around, sl sti in 1st sc to join.



Cut Off and weave in ends.
